At Iota, we don’t do half-measures. Our clients stay with us because we add value to their businesses far beyond the typical buyer / vendor relationship. This, our longest-standing client is a great example – as the global leader in their space, their localization needs are wide, extending across more than 30 different language locales, long, amounting to more than 1.6 million new words each year in some languages, and deep, in their terminological complexity and reach into all aspects of their business.
They also happen to be based in California – 8 hours, and 8000 kilometers away from our Dublin headquarters. They have multiple needs, spanning a wide range of products and a portfolio of more than 33 languages. And as far as they’re concerned, we might as well be in the same room.
It’s even more impressive when you consider the complexity of their business and the support we provide. We meet all their localization needs across 33 languages, kicking off new projects every single day of the week. Annual language volumes range from nearly 6 million words of Japanese, of which 2.6 million words are entirely new, to just shy of 1 million words of Slovenian, of which 250,000 are entirely new. And there are 31 other languages in between. Different products require different language combinations and there are different amounts of content for each language. A good Project Manager’s dream!
Of course, capacity is meaningless if you can’t deal with the complexity. For this client we work across multiple departments – each with their own unique requirements and differing priorities. Over the course of a week, we deal with everything from application, help and technical document localization, right through to the localization of cutting-edge e-learning modules with embedded video and multimedia assets. Most weeks we will also support their multilingual legal and customer communication needs and translate a range of HR material for their global offices.
As our client is a highly acquisitive company, we’re also deeply involved in working with their internal teams to formulate localization plans for newly-acquired software and technology businesses as they are integrated into the wider organization.
All this takes place seamlessly, with consistent terminology, in different formats and across multiple platforms. Day after day, week after week. It’s the perfect combination of technological excellence, linguistic skill, and a highly collaborative relationship.
