Welcome Aoife and Laura!
Earlier this month we were pleased to welcome Aoife O’Donnell and Laura Reidy to the Iota team. Both Aoife and Laura are students of the M.A. in Translation Studies at Dublin City University and join us as interns over the Summer to gain hands-on experience of the localization industry.
Aoife is a graduate from the B.A. in International Modern Languages (Spanish and Italian) at University College Dublin. In her third year she had the opportunity to spend a year on Erasmus exchange in Seville. While on Erasmus, she tried out some translation classes and discovered an interest in this area. She decided to go on to do postgraduate study in the area of translation and chose DCU because of the wide range of modules on offer, from translation technology to audiovisual translation. However, the localization module was of particular interest and this influenced her decision to apply for an internship at Iota.
Laura is a graduate from the University of Limerick, where she graduated from the B.A. in Applied Languages (French, German and Spanish) in 2014. After writing her undergraduate dissertation on the translation of culture-specific elements of language, she decided to further specialize in the field of translation studies through the M.A. program in DCU. She took a particular interest in the areas of localization, specialized translation and project management and this drove her decision to approach Iota for a Summer internship.
Both Aoife and Laura have already had a hugely positive impact on the team, working directly with our largest customers from day one and working side-by-side with our engineering and project management teams to learn more about how we manage the localization of some of the world’s most high profile software products.
